What are Chinese Martial Arts?
Martial Arts from China is called Kung Fu, which is 2000 years old. This type of martial art is based on 5 animal movements that developed muscle tone, endurance, flexibility, and strength.
We’ve taken this ancient martial art and developed a modern training program to fit today’s busy lifestyles. Each martial arts class has a unique training experience. The three martial arts classes include the Basics of Martial Arts, Kickboxing, and Martial Arts Self Defense.
Getting started is easy for beginners. Just try one of our trial programs, and you’ll discover for yourself the benefits of Chinese martial arts.
Basics are Classical Martial Art training that develops your Strength and Power.
The 3 Types of Kung Fu Basics are:
1) Kung Fu Postures – develop your lower body strength to enhance your power in the upper body.
2) Kung Fu Strikes – develop your upper body power. You’ll learn to pinpoint Your Body’s entire energy to a very specific (one inch) area on your hand.
3) Kung Fu Kicks improve balance, flexibility, and leg strength. For self-defense, kicks give you a more extended reach, and kicks are more powerful than the hands.
Martial Arts Kickboxing is a Heart-Pounding Aerobic Class for endurance and building muscles. Kickboxing uses all four limbs that develop fantastic endurance, quick reflexes, and coordination.
The three parts of Kung Fu Kickboxing are:
1) Kickboxing Stepping combinations. Each aerobic Kickboxing workout uses four different stepping combinations that develop, what we call, Springing Leg Power.
2) Kickboxing Combination techniques combined with 24 Kickboxing principles. You’ll learn a variety of combination techniques that use the arms and legs in conjunction with each other.
3) Kickboxing Bag Work. You get to use these combinations on a variety of modern training equipment such as Heavy Bags, Body Shields, Forearm Bags, and Focus Mitts.
Martial Arts Self Defense develops the Combat Skills for Protection against any Attacker.
The 3 methods of Martial Arts Self Defense are:
1) The Martial Arts Sports Method. Teaches you techniques to use in a contest with rules and a ring. There are restrictions on techniques and judges to make sure the rules are followed. You don’t have judges and rules on the street. Also, the techniques are limited to that sport, so you do not have all the tools necessary to defend yourself on the street.
2) The Martial Arts Stylistic Method. Teach you different punches, blocks, and kicks, but again these are not street tactics. In addition, they do sports sparring practice with partners, and the techniques used have no relationship to the techniques they show you in class. Worse yet, none of these techniques help you to defend yourself on the street, but unfortunately, many people think they are.
3) The Kung Fu Method. Is the third type of defense and that method being the combat martial arts of Chinese martial arts. The system that we teach here at the academy. The name of the system is called Ying Jow Pai, which means Eagle Claw and is part of our regular martial arts program. That is one of the oldest and most comprehensive systems of defense in the world. This method combines everything from blocks, strikes, and kicks to locks and ground-fighting.
A lot of people are not sure they might want to do the martial arts of Kung Fu or Tai Chi… or they know that they want to do it and are not quite sure how to get started. That was my case. I always wanted to do Kung Fu and Tai Chi but was a little scared to go on my own. I thought! Is it going to be too hard? Am I in shape enough to do it? How long do I have to do it? Am I going to get hurt?

Kung Fu – The Ancient Art for Today’s Professional
The first recorded movements of Kung Fu were in the Yellow Emperor’s Book on Internal Medicine in 2600 B.C. In 220 A.D., Emperor Han Wu Ti wrote the Han Shi I Wen Chi (Han Book of Arts). This book contained methods of hand fighting and 4 chapters were devoted to Kung Fu strategies. In 500 A.D., the monks from the Shaolin monastery cataloged and perfected Kung Fu to new heights.
